Samara is a strong advocate for social justice, mental wellness, and equity. After receiving a BA in Sociology and Communication at UC Santa Barbara, she began her career as an AmeriCorps member at City Year Los Angeles. She tutored and mentored high school students in a neighborhood riddled with gangs, gun violence, and poverty. Though she sought to make a change in the lives of her students, she realized that they had more of an impact on her.
The experience at City Year aroused her passion and desire to serve others. She continued her career as an Employment Specialist at Chrysalis, an organization dedicated to serving individuals who are navigating barriers while seeking employment. Her caseload often consisted of transient persons, individuals with felonies, and inmates living in halfway houses. She assisted these marginalized groups on their path to self-sufficiency by reducing barriers, connecting them to resources, and providing consultation. She was eventually promoted to a leadership role which allowed her to obtain a seat at the decision-making table. She was able to advocate on behalf of clients and staff.
She later went on to receive her Master of Social Work at CSU Long Beach, in which she was nominated by faculty to be placed on the Graduate Dean's List, an honor limited to one percent of the university's graduate enrollment. During her time at CSULB, she volunteered as a research assistant and interned for the City of Long Beach's Community Impact Division. She facilitated trauma-informed trainings and assisted in the human trafficking program and violence prevention initiative.
She currently works as a school-based social worker at one of the nation's largest school districts. In her role, she provides mental health support to high school students, their families, and the school system.
When she's not working, Samara continues to be a source of light to her community. She most recently volunteer with the California American Legion Auxiliary Girl State, where she served as an assistant counselor that engaged young girls in civic engagement and a service project for military veterans.
Samara enjoys traveling, trying out new restaurants, spending time with friends, biking, painting, and pottery.

It is important for her to lead by example. She believes a "smile" can brighten anyone's day. She has used the skills she obtained in the workforce to support the church's ministry. Currently serves in her place of worship as church secretary, and Superintendent of Sunday School. Her greatest passion is outreach ministries. She believes there is no greater way to show the love of Christ than to help someone in need.
